Shiftall Inc. announces the “HaritoraX 2 Pro”, a fully wireless full-body tracking (FBT) device that requires no base stations.
HaritoraX 2 Pro features an additional foot sensor, bringing the total to eight sensors, which capture natural foot movements and accurately reflect them in the avatar.
The basic set of HaritoraX 2 (not Pro, existing model) focused on ease of charging, affordability, and lightweight design, using partial cable connections. However, some users feel discomfort due to limited knee movement, cables hitting the controllers, or discomfort when sensors touch the back of the knees while crossing their legs. HaritoraX 2 Pro eliminates these issues with a completely cableless design, offering improved comfort and over 80 hours of battery life.
Smooth and flexible ankle motion is a key factor in making avatars move more like real humans.
HaritoraX 2 Pro includes dedicated foot sensors that detect three-dimensional ankle movement, allowing the avatar’s ankle joints to move naturally and dynamically. This greatly reduces the “skating” effect, where an avatar’s feet appear to slide unnaturally across the floor, achieving motion comparable to professional motion capture systems.
While the standard set of HaritoraX 2 (non-Pro) prioritized ease of use and a lightweight design through the use of partial cabling, the resulting cable management sometimes caused discomfort—such as difficulty kneeling or cables striking the controllers. By eliminating all cables, users can now kneel, cross their legs, or perform complex dance and action movements without restriction. It also removes the risk of cables snagging on hands or controllers during intense, professional-level motion.
HaritoraX 2 Pro achieves up to 80 hours of continuous use—surpassing the HaritoraX 2.
This long battery life reduces the frequency of charging for daily users, and it can also handle hardcore use cases such as 24-hour continuous VR sessions.
For typical use of about 3 hours per day every other day, users can go for over 1.5 months without charging.
HaritoraX 2 Pro uses the same sensors as the HaritoraX 2, maintaining the IMU system’s key strength—no tracking loss *1—while significantly reducing its weakness: rotational drift *2.
Each sensor is individually calibrated before shipment, ensuring outstanding stability even in environments where geomagnetic sensors do not function properly.
In environments where geomagnetic sensors operate effectively, HaritoraX 2 Pro delivers an unprecedentedly stable FBT experience with almost no rotational drift, even after more than an hour of continuous use *3.
*1 In Optical-based trackers, obstructions can prevent tracking, causing avatars to adopt unnatural poses. This phenomenon is referred to as “tracking lost.”
*2 IMU-based trackers can develop positional discrepancies over time, particularly along the yaw axis, causing avatar misalignment. This issue is known as “rotation drift.”
*3 Needs to be in good geomagnetic field condition about once every 10 minutes. Sometimes slight body movement is required for that.
Some Bluetooth host devices can connect to all eight HaritoraX 2 Pro sensors, but many cannot maintain stable communication when more than seven Bluetooth devices are connected. To ensure a stable connection, HaritoraX 2 Pro includes one GX2 Communication Dongle, which allows two sensors to communicate via the dongle while the remaining six connect via Bluetooth.
Users can also use an optional GX6 Communication Dongle (sold separately) to connect all eight sensors through dedicated 2.4 GHz communication. This configuration is recommended for users who wish to use other Bluetooth devices simultaneously.
By attaching the separately sold “HaritoraX 2 Expansion Set for Elbow Tracking” to both upper arms, users can capture more precise elbow movements. Existing users of the “HaritoraX Wireless Expansion Set for Elbow Tracking” can also use it with the HaritoraX 2 Pro.
